Good morning students, I really wish I was seeing you in class today. I hope you all and your families are well. Our first concern is for your welfare. Although education is important it is not the most important thing right now. I would like to thank all of our families that continue to work in the essential jobs that are providing for and keeping us safe. My thoughts are with you during this time. Please see the link to the districts Continuous Learning enrichment activities. If you do not want to print out the packet, they are being handed out at the Pandemic Meal Locations, see the link below. The packets are for enrichment only and will not be collected or graded. I will link several websites that I have found that are cool and engaging to my webpage (Stortzum.weebly.com). If you get bored check them out. I will post updates on my blog link on my webpage for any updates. I will be emailing you each individually over the next week about your science fair grade and any changes you will be able to make. Please know I am here to support you so feel free to email me if you have any questions or concerns. I wanted you to introduce you to our new pet, Spike. My daughter and I are taking great care of him. I cannot wait for you all to meet him. Please keep drinking water, washing your hands with warm water/soap for at least 20 seconds, and try to get a little exercise. Hope you are safe and well. Big virtual hugs and high fives to you all! I am so excited to see all the science fair projects this week. Students have been telling me all about their projects since October. Please refer to my website if your student has questions about anything science fair related.
Here are the next steps for science fair: February 24th – 28th Science Fair Projects are due. Students can turn in their projects any day. * If students completed an e-fair project then they can submit their project by flash drive or email ([email protected]) please have the student put their name and class period in subject line of the email. *If they completed a physical project their science fair log book, journal, and display board can be brought to my classroom and I will attach their name to their board February 24th – March 19th I will grade all the projects and give your student a preliminary grade. If they would like to make any changes they will have two weeks to complete any revisions and resubmit. March 10th – 11th Projects will be set up in the library for parents to view during Parent Teacher Conferences. March 17th – District Science Fair May 1st – Regional Science Fair Final Grades for science fair will be due before 4th quarter mid term. If your student is good to go this week you can stop reading here. If your student will not be ready to submit their project this week the below information will be important for your student (which they were told during class this week) Only students who submit their projects on time (even if they need to make adjustments) are eligible to complete in the district and regional science fairs. However, since this is a large part of students 4th quarter grade, I want to give all student the support they need to submit their projects. If students are not ready to submit their projects this week they will still receive credit for their project and the absolute final date to submit their projects is April 3rd. I offered 8 after school science fair sessions for students to complete an experiment with me all students have either completed an experiment with me or they told me that they were completing a project on their own. If this is not the case please let me know and I can stay afterschool and assist your student with a project (Chemical Reactions or Electromagnet). As always, thank you for all your support at home. Please let me know if you have any questions ([email protected]) Lisa Stortzum Students will be assessed on Force and Motion over the next two weeks
